When your child is diagnosed with autism, it can feel very lonely. But knowing the latest autism statistics can make you feel less isolated. You will soon realize you are part of a much bigger autism community.
A study cited by the National Autistic Society suggests there are over 700,000 people in the UK with autism – more than 1 in every 100 individuals. Based on this prevalence, it is estimated that there are approximately 7,500 autistic people living with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Lincolnshire.

Exciting Opportunity: Start a Local Autism/Neurodivergent Support Group in Your Area!
Are you passionate about creating a supportive and understanding space for autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families in your local community? If so, Lincolnshire Autistic Society is offering an incredible opportunity to help you set up a local autism/neurodivergent support group with a £250 startup cash injection!
Why Start a Local Support Group?
Support groups play a vital role in connecting families, sharing lived experiences, and offering guidance in a world that often misunderstands neurodivergence. By establishing a local group, you can:
- Create a safe and welcoming space for autistic individuals, parents, and caregivers
- Share knowledge and resources to empower neurodivergent families
- Build a strong local community that fosters understanding and acceptance
- Shape activities and discussions that meet the specific needs of your area
What Support Will You Receive?
Starting a group might seem daunting, but you won’t be doing it alone! PAACT (Parents and Autistic Children Together)—a well-established support group—will provide a structured support package to help you organise your meetings and ensure your group is a success.
This package includes:
- Guidance on structuring your day/evening group events
- Advice on engaging activities and discussion topics
- Support from experienced individuals who have run successful groups
Additional Funding Available – Up to £3,000!
Beyond the £250 startup funding, there is also the possibility of securing up to £3,000 in further grant funding from the Virtual Autism Hub LPFT. This means your group can expand, offer more activities, and reach even more people in need of support!
